Melanie Austin

2nd Vice President

I was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and the youngest of four girls. I attended the Mississippi School for the Blind through the end of 9th grade, and then transferred to Forest Hill High School, which is a part of the Jackson Public School system. Following high school, I obtained a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy from Northeast Louisiana University and I’m currently practicing in an outpatient setting in Crystal Springs, Ms. I am blessed with a family, which includes my husband and three awesome teenagers.

My interests outside of family and work primarily revolve around music (guitar, keyboard, and vocal). I am a member of Wynndale Baptist Church, the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association, the Byram Lions Club, and the National Federation of the Blind where I currently serve as 2nd Vice President of the Jackson Chapter (Mississippi affiliate) and State Coordinator for "Youth Slam."
