Cassie Branum

Treasure

Mrs. Cassie Branum was reared in the Mississippi Gulf Coast and attended public schools during her life.

Cassie learned about the National Federation of the Blind during the early 80’s from a speaker at an event she was attending. In 1992 she had moved to Hazlehurst, Mississippi and soon learned that a Chapter had been established there and attended one of the meetings and has been a member since then.. She’s currently the treasurer for the Hazlehurst chapter and has held several other positions on the local and state level as well. Cassie has received 5 awards for “Outstanding Member” from the Hazlehurst chapter and the “Outstanding New President’s” award from the NFB of Ms.

Cassie has used many of her skills to promote the NFB and the ideas of the organization. She feels that there are 3 very important things that a blind or visually impaired person can learn while attending public schools are computer skills, Braille, and social skills.

Everyone is given a gift and it’s there responsibility to develop it and make it a part of your life. Life is a cause and effect. This affect is how you inspire others to be a person of substance. The NFB can and will help develop some aspects of this gift so that one day you can come full circle.
