Hi my name is Joyce Payne and I'm a native of Tupelo, Mississippi where I was born in June of 1947 and its still home to me. In addition to myself I have 5 siblings (2 brothers, 3 sisters). They live in Missouri and Mississippi. My mother, my daughter and granddaughter also live in Tupelo, Ms.

I attended Lowes High School where I graduated in 1965. The school is located in Gntown, Ms. After high school I went to Itawamba Community College in Tupelo, Ms where I majored in the Clerical program and graduated in 1979. When I left there I attended a few satellite colleges in the same field.

I was employed at Life Head Start for 20 years. While there I was a Master Teacher, which involved training preschool teachers. In 1996 I retired. After my retirement I’ve had a few other jobs in the Clerical field but since then have been completely retired which enables me to enjoy my family and leisure time.

I first became associated with the NFB of Ms in 1996 and became a member of the Tupelo Chapter. I am currently the secretary for the chapter. I have also taken grant-writing classes to help with fundraising efforts for our chapter.

The NFBM is a 501(c)(3) organization. We are registered with the Mississippi Secretary of State for the purpose of soliciting funds as a non-profit organization. All of our officers are non-salaried individuals.

All tax deductible contributions should be made payable to the National Federation of the Blind of Mississippi. (NFBM) and mailed to P.O. Box 1515, Jackson, MS 39215-1515.
